About Me

As a writer, my journey began in journalism and copywriting before I transitioned into the world of books. I’m drawn to the fantastic and the marvellous, yet my roots pull me toward stories that explore real societies, cultures, and political systems. Born to Turkish parents, I was raised across Türkiye, Iran, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, and Ghana, before continuing my education in the United States. While majoring in psychology at Bard College in New York, I also focused on Latin American literature and studied literary translation under the guidance of William Weaver, renowned for his translation of The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco.

I've penned ten children’s books published by Yapı Kredi, home to Orhan Pamuk and Yaşar Kemal's novels, and translated books and plays, including David Greig's The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart and Midsummer. While helping other writers tell their stories in the best way possible, I am also working on Pudding & Stories from My Cafe, a semi-autobiographical novel dipped in magic.
